Being an equine exclusive practitioner since graduating from Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2014, Dr. Emily Hood has always been working towards owning her own practice. Her internship year at Texas Equine Hospital, a high level referral hospital, and working at a tertiary referral central in Oklahoma have prepared her to run a profitable hospital setting, with the hope of one day expanding to a multi practitioner practice. While working for a clinic in Kilgore for two years, she was able to learn the area and gain the trust of some amazing clients.

Opening Hood Equine Veterinary Services, PLLC in 2019 afforded Dr. Hood the ability to focus on what she loves - performance horse lameness and taking care of customers. She performs all aspects of equine medicine, from preventative care to reproduction, but what she is best at and enjoys the most is getting and keeping your performance horses sound. She utilizes digital radiography and ultrasonography to help her diagnose lameness issues. And uses everything from typical joint injections to formahoof to get them and keep them sound.
